Protein bars collected for Marine recruits

The Mayor’s Office, in partnership with the Veterans Strong Community Center/Bristol Veterans Council, announce their support of local mother of a USMC recruit collecting protein bars. The mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, wanted to send “treats” to her son who is going through training for the USMC at Parris Island. With a total of five USMC recruits from Bristol, a press release from the mayor’s office said Mayor Ken Cockayne and the Veterans Strong Community Center, have lent their support to the cause and will act as drop off locations for anyone wishing to donate protein bars.

The release said Cockayne would like to see 375 bars collected to benefit all members of the Bristol recruits’ platoons.

The protein bars will be collected through Friday, Sept. 9 and must contain 20 grams of protein.
