Chamber announces Beautification Award recipients; Economic Development Breakfast Sept. 14

The Bristol Chamber of Commerce and Bristol Development Authority will hold the 2016 Annual Beautification Awards and Economic Development Breakfast on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at DoubleTree by Hilton from 8 to 10 a.m.

Recognition will be given to those businesses who have made strides to beautify their property through landscaping, maintenance, or physical improvements over the past year.

The topic of this year’s breakfast is Partnering for Safe Communities and will focus on how businesses and public safety officers can collaborate to keep Bristol safe. Featured speakers include Bristol Police Chief Brian Gould, Bristol Fire Department Chief Jay Kolakoski, and Connecticut State Police Public Information Office Representative Trooper Kelly Grant.

Kristen Gorski, development and Grants Assistant for Bristol Development Authority stated, “We’re excited to continue our partnership with the chamber by holding our second economic development breakfast. The hope for our breakfast series is to provide valuable resources to the business community, and continue to build strong relationships with Bristol businesses.”

The winners for this year’s awards are GMN USA (181 Business Park Rd) for Best Large Business; Oasis Restaurant (782 Pine St.) for Best Small Business, Fire Station 4 (Vincent P. Kelly Road) for Community Restoration, Thomaston Savings Bank (Route 6) for New Construction, Harry C. Barnes Nature Center (175 Shrub Road) for Non-Profit, Chippanee Country Club (6 Marsh Rd.) for Chamber’s Choice and Redman’s Trailers (120 Terryville Rd.) for Mayor’s Choice.

Winners were selected by the chamber’s Beautification Committee and the BDA from nominations submitted by the community.

Chamber president and CEO Cindy Scoville stated in a press release, “We are excited to once again be able to honor those in town who take the time and effort to improve their properties as this not only reflects well on their business, but also on Bristol as a whole.”

This event is free of charge, thanks to Premier Sponsor, TD Bank. Other sponsors are Bristol Hospital, Comcast Business, Liberty Bank, and Thomaston Savings Bank.
