Former Mum committee disperses remaining funds

The former Bristol Chrysanthemum Festival Committee has finalized the closure of its corporation, and as a result the executive committee has made donations to several Bristol organizations who have supported the Mum Festival and have similar mission statements. Earlier this year, the Bristol Exchange Club received $10,000 to assist them in producing the 2016 Mum Festival parade. Other organizations receiving donations were the Frederick Franklin Lodge, the Bristol Historical Society, the Imagine Nation Children’s Museum, the Harry C. Barnes Memorial Nature Center, the Quota Club, the Christian Fellowship Center, Meals for the Needy and For Goodness Sake. In a press release, the committee stated, ‘Our hope is that the donations will let them continue the good work they have been doing for our community.’ The executive members of the Bristol Chrysanthemum Festival committee and representatives of the Bristol Historical Society, the Imagine Nation Children’s Museum, the Harry C. Barnes Memorial Nature Center, the Quota Club, the Christian Fellowship Center, Meals for the Needy, and For Goodness Sake. The release said, ‘The Executive Committee as well as the members of the final Bristol Chrysanthemum Festival committee would like to thank the local organizations and individuals that supported their efforts for the past 54 years.’
