Gloria Hoffman Stafstrom, 84, died peacefully on August 22, 2016, in Baltimore, MD, where she resided at Symphony Manor Assisted Living. She previously had lived most of her life in Terryville, CT. A born care-giver, Gloria was the only child of Otto and Anna Hoffman. Gloria earned her R.N. degree at Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing and spent her working career with Bristol Hospital. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Terryville throughout her life. In retirement, she volunteered as a nurse and was active in the local food pantry and other causes. Her hobbies included crafts, crossword puzzles and word games, and collecting teapots. She was an animal lover, especially of cats. Despite the challenges of pulmonary disease, Gloria continued to maintain a strong spirit, reflective of her strong faith.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Ernest E. Stafstrom, Jr. She is survived by her three children, their spouses and six grandchildren: son Dr. Carl Stafstrom and wife Jean Liang of Baltimore, their daughter Marit and son Isaac; son Joel Stafstrom and wife Judy of DeKalb, IL, their daughter Kristina Lachance and son William; and daughter Anne Block and husband Helmut of Dallas, TX, their son Hunter and daughter Hannah.
