Obituaries: Mary Singleton


Mary (Triplett) Singleton, 72, of Bristol, passed away on Sept. 1 at her home.

Born on Nov. 25, 1943 in Finchville, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Claude and Julia Rose (Todd) Triplett. Prior to her retirement, Mary worked for New Departure, O-Z Gedney and General Electric. She enjoyed bowling, being a member of several leagues at the former Bristol Ten Pin. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends. Mary was a very outgoing, caring person and was always willing to help others who were in need.

She is survived by her three daughters, Denise Joyce Singleton, Phyllis Singleton-Tucker, and Erika Cane Singleton, all of Bristol. She also is survived by five brothers, Joe, Billy, Wade, George, and Melvin Triplett; three sisters, Suzanne Triplett, Evelyn Mack, and Yvonne Triplett; four grandchildren, David L. Singleton, Nicholas J. Tucker, Jasmine M. Smith, and Tylor A. LeBlanc; two great grandchildren Liliana Rose Nauss and Khalid Mwanilelo, and a large extended family, including many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by three sisters, Julia Rose Boykins, Polly Triplett, and Pearl Baynard, and two brothers, Finesse and Howard Triplett.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 10 a.m. at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
