‘Hearts Behind Badges’ returns Oct. 2

To honor Bristol’s police, firefighters, and EMTs the “Hearts Behind Badges” event will be held again this year on Sunday, Oct. 2, from noon to 3 p.m. on the Center Mall site.

Craig Yarde, created this event to show appreciation for the work done by these groups in our community.

Yard said in a press release, “These are the people in our community who keep us safe and protect us. I feel that the least we can do is attend “Hearts Behind Badges” to show our appreciation for the work that they do. The Bristol community is really behind this event, already buying 268 tickets; this community has a lot of heart. I approached the people who supported this event last year and we are looking forward to the rest of the Bristol community joining us in 2016. These are the people who have roots in Bristol and love and support this town.”

Yarde started “Hearts Behind Badges” in 2015 and has expanded the event this year to honor firefighters and EMT’s. The event last year was well attended and he hopes to double the number of attendees in 2016.

Craig said, the press release reported, “The Bristol business community has showed tremendous support for this event, including Bristol Blues, who will be selling beer, Starbucks Coffee, Pepsi, Wojtuski Nursery, South Side Meat Market Catering and True Value Just Ask Rentals. All of whom have donated or will donate their profits to this event. The New England Carousel Museum is also a generous sponsor of this event and will be the beneficiary of any income generated.” Craig Yarde said in the release he looks forward to the support the city residents will show “Our main goal is to attract as many citizens of Bristol as possible and show our support for these men and women who are committed to the safety of Bristol and its citizens,” said the release.

The event is a family affordable activity with tickets available at the New England Carousel Museum at 95 Riverside Ave.

Tickets for adults are $15 per person and children under age 16 years old are $10. Barbeque chicken, corn and potatoes are on the menu and the event will be held rain or shine. Stop in at the Carousel Museum to pick up tickets or call (860)585-5411 to order your tickets.
