Obituaries: James Warren ‘Jim’ Velasco

James Warren “Jim” Velasco, son of the late Howard and Harriet Velasco, passed away unexpectedly on Friday (Sept. 17, 2016). Born on August 22, 1953, he was a life-long resident of Bristol and a graduate of Bristol Central High School as well as Western Connecticut State University. He will be missed by his sister and brother-in-law: Cynthia and George H. Szuki, of South Windsor; three brothers and two-sisters-in-law: David Velasco, Farmington, Howard M. and Carol Velasco Jr., of Bristol, William Q. and Jan Velasco, of Westfield, NJ; their children: John and wife Alyssa, of Montclair, NJ, Douglas Velasco, of Westfield, NJ; cousin and her husband: Jackie and Kevin McCauley, of Bristol; their children: Tyler Miselis, of Medford MA, Joseph Miselis, of Bristol, Brooke Miselis, of Long Island, NY; as well as extended family across the United States and abroad. Jim’s family would like to express appreciation to his many daily nurses who went beyond expectation and to his aide, Sheri Kirchon, who made such a difference in the quality of his life these past few years. And to the many residents of Bristol who looked beyond his illness and extended acts of kindness to him, thank you! Funeral services for Jim will be private and at the convenience of the family.
