BRISTOL – It’s back to work for the three high schools in town next week and the schedule workload has certainly increased.
Every teams jockeying for an edge in the CCC South and Naugatuck Valley League Copper standings and here’s a quick look at next week’s slate of action:
In boys soccer, there’s a Saturday game or two out there for two of our teams…
*Bristol Central has a 1 p.m. date on the road at Maloney on Saturday, Sept. 24 while preparing for the City Series battle to close out Sept.. But first, the Rams tangles with CCC power East Catholic on Tuesday, Sept. 27 from Bristol and then on Thursday, Sept. 29, it’s Central/Eastern, round one – scheduled from Muzzy Field at 5:15 p.m.
*Bristol Eastern is on a Tuesday/Thursday kick this week. First, the Lancers travels to South Windsor (at 4 p.m.) on Tuesday, Sept. 27 as Eastern’s brutal schedule continues. And then two days later, its the Central/Eastern confrontation (Sept. 29, Muzzy Field, 5:15 p.m.).
*St. Paul Catholic high school has three matches, all from home. It begins on Tuesday, Sept. 27 as St. Paul Catholic battles Crosby (6 p.m.) while two days later, it’s an entanglement against Seymour (3:45 p.m.). To finish off the week on Saturday, it’s a non-conference affair against Cromwell in Bristol at 3 p.m.
In girls soccer, the Bristol City Series battle looms as two new coaches take the helm in the bi-yearly clash…
*Bristol Central battles old CCC South foe Southington on Tuesday, Sept. 27 (3:45 p.m.) from the turf field in Southington. And then on Thursday, Sept. 29, it’s the BC/BE entanglement at 7 p.m. from Muzzy Field.
*Bristol Eastern doesn’t leave town for two showdowns this week. Contest one comes against South Windsor on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 3:45 p.m. and need more be said about Thursday’s 7 p.m. showdown against the Rams from Muzzy Field?
*St. Paul Catholic High School is on the road for two NVL showdowns. On Monday, Sept. 26, the Falcons charge to Ansonia for a 3:30 p.m. bout and then on Friday, Sept. 30, St. Paul Catholic is at Seymour for 6:30 p.m. meet.
One squad from the Mum City gets to go visit the Blue Wave this week…
*Bristol Central is the team that gets to travel to New Milford to visit old friend and coach Tony Nocera on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. And then on Wednesday, Sept. 28, East Catholic travels to Bristol (6:30 p.m. start) and two days later on Friday, the Rams grapple with Middletown at 6 p.m.
*Bristol Eastern faces one heck of an eight-day challenge that starts with an always tough bout against Woodstock Academy on Friday, Sept. 23 from the Thomas M. Monahan Gymnasium in Bristol. Next week starts off with a Monday, Sept. 26 battle at Glastonbury. And then two more from home on Wednesday, Sept. 28 against Edwin O. Smith and then on Friday, Sept. 30 with a clash with Maloney. All matches commence at 6 p.m.
*St. Paul Catholic High School has three matches this week, two coming from the Maltby Street Gymnasium in Bristol. On Tuesday, Sept. 27, Ansonia comes to Bristol while on the following Thursday and Friday, it’s back-to-back encounters against Woodland (at Woodland) and a home challenge versus Naugatuck. All contests take place at 6 p.m.
There are meets-a-plenty this week for our squads from Bristol…
*Bristol Central is on the road for a meet in Manchester on Tuesday, Sept. 27 from the school’s pool at 3:45 p.m.
*Bristol Eastern is home for two meets from the Dennis Malone Aquatic Center in Bristol. On Tuesday, Sept. 27, it’s a CCC encounter against Glastonbury and then on Friday, Sept. 30, Berlin comes to Bristol. Both meets begin at 4 p.m.
*St. Paul Catholic High School is busy in the pool this week. First, it’s an out of league event at St. Joseph’s College in West Hartford at the 2nd Annual Catholic School Invitational at 10 a.m. And then on Tuesday, Sept. 27, the Falcons battle the Wilby/Kaynor Tech co-op from Wilby high school at 4 p.m. And on Friday, Sept. 30, St. Paul Catholic high school battles Torrington from the Torrington YMCA at 7:30 p.m.
Boys & Girls Cross Country
Our boys and girls squads certainly have a loaded slate of action over the next eight days or so…
*Bristol Central participates in the Camp Sloper Relays on Friday, Sept. 23 at 4 p.m. before taking on a tough duo in the form of Conard and Manchester from Wickham Park in Manchester on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 3:45 p.m.
*Bristol Eastern is also involved at the Camp Sloper Relays before two CCC meets dot the schedule. On Tuesday, Sept. 27, the Lancers are home for Newington in a 3:45 p.m. meet at Page Park and then on Thursday, Sept. 29, Eastern travels to Middletown for a 3:45 p.m. battle.
*St. Paul Catholic High School has its meet of the week on Tuesday, Sept. 27 as the Falcons take on Watertown, Holy Cross and Kennedy from Veterans Park in Waterbury at 3:45 p.m.
