Sports Week in Review for Sept. 30

BRISTOL – It’s a busy week in scholastic sports as the midseason point is reached for most of our squads come the beginning of October

Here are some important showdowns to keep in mind to open October:

 

Boys Soccer: Here are some of the featured matches this coming week for all the scholastic teams in town…

*Bristol Central – Nate Jandreau’s Rams have two matches this week including a CCC encounter against Rocky Hill on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 3:45 p.m. from – hopefully – the new turf field from Bristol.

*Bristol Eastern – After the city series battle against Central, Eastern also has two matches with a confrontation at home versus Middletown on Friday, Oct. 7 at 3:45 p.m. on the docket.

*St. Paul Catholic high school – It’s lights, camera, action at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7 when Holy Cross visits Bristol for what will turn into a nighttime tilt.

 

Girls Soccer

*Bristol Central – In its only home match of the week, the Rams are in action on Tuesday, Oct. 4 when the Platt Panthers come to the Mum City for a match at 3:45 p.m.

*Bristol Eastern  – Coach Redeye and company battle Rocky Hill on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 3:45 p.m. from the grounds of BEHS.

*St. Paul Catholic High School – Keeping with the Tuesday theme, Oxford travels to St. Paul Catholic for a 6 p.m. affair from McPhee Field in Bristol.

Volleyball

*Bristol Central  – Three matches dot the Rams’ schedule this week, including a 6:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 7 contest against CCC challenger Wethersfield from Bristol.

*Bristol Eastern – The Lancers are not home this week for any matches but on Wednesday, Oct. 5, Eastern travels to New Britain at 6 p.m. for a CCC South Blue engagement.

*St. Paul Catholic high school – On Tuesday, Oct. 4, the Falcons tangles with Watertown from the Maltby Street Gymnasium at 6 p.m. Two days later, St. Paul Catholic battles non-league competitor Lewis Mills from Burlington (6:15 p.m.).

 

Swimming

*Bristol Central – In Central’s match of the week from the Dennis Malone Aquatic Center in Bristol, the co-op from Meriden (Meriden/Platt) comes to town for a CCC South battle at 4 p.m.

*Bristol Eastern – Eastern gets to compete against the grouping from Platt/Meriden on Tuesday, Oct. 4 in Bristol at 3:45 p.m.

*St. Paul Catholic high school – The Falcons are in action on Friday, Oct. 7 when the squad drives down Interstate 84 to the pool at Oxford high school (4 p.m.). It’s the team’s only meet of the week.

 

Boys & Girls Cross Country

*Bristol Central – The teams travel to Cove Park in Wethersfield for a 3:45 p.m. meet against one of the South’s best programs on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

*Bristol Eastern – The Lancers are also on the road on Tuesday, Oct. 4 as its a tri-meet against Hall of West Hartford and South Windsor from Nevers Field.

*St. Paul Catholic high school – Hop Brook Park is the location for the Falcons’ Oct. 4 meet against Naugatuck, Derby, and Wolcott.sports
