The Bristol Police Department has closed the investigation a clown-related school threat, which appeared to be part of a trend of currently going on throughout the nation and in Connecticut.
According to a press release from the Bristol Police Department, Bristol detectives, along with assistance from Florida law enforcement, determined that a juvenile in Florida was responsible for the threat. The threat is no longer considered viable and the investigation in Bristol is now closed. Florida officials will determine if any action will be taken against the juvenile, the release said.
Bristol police previously reported on Wednesday evening that the clown-related threat did not entail any specific act of violence toward any student, but mentioned a Bristol Central High School student. Students informed the police and school administrators about threats posted on Instagram involving clowns.
The police department’s Cyber Crimes Detectives later determined that the clown threat originated from Florida.
