Richard A. “Dick” Duperry, 77, of Bristol, died on Friday (October 7, 2016) at Sheriden Woods surrounded by his family. Dick was born in Hartford on January 7, 1939 and was a son of the late Arsene and Winifred (Bouchard) Duperry. He was raised in Bristol. He enjoyed playing baseball in his youth and played for McCabe-Waters Little League as a member of the champion Tigers and as an all-star with the Red Sox. He later played softball in Bristol’s Slo-Pitch leagues. He worked at the former Bristol Brass where he served as a union steward before retiring. He then moved to Williamstown, VT where he worked as a flooring contractor before returning to Bristol. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, cooking, and fishing and hunting at his cabin in Washington, VT. He participated in several Vermont State cribbage tournaments. Dick is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Dawn and Tarp Young of Wolcott and Sondra Duperry-Brodeur and Robert Brodeur of Bristol; three sisters: Patricia Bayer of Bristol, Judie Duperry of Plainville, and Joyce Bolduc of Bristol; four grandchildren: Hailey and Ryan Young, Phyllicia and Samantha Hepsley; step-son: James Hepsley and his wife, Barbara, of Williamstown, VT; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter: Kim Duperry, brother: Ronald Duperry, grandson: Tarp Michael Young, former wife: Sandra (Jennings) Duperry, and his life partner: Linda Works. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (October 12, 2016) at 9 AM from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Ann Church, 215 West St., Bristol, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Tuesday between 5 and 8 PM.
