Sports preview for Oct. 14

BRISTOL – Are we halfway through the month of Oct. already?

That’s a fact and now it’s time for our tournament bound teams in town to make a little headway in the various standings.

What are the big games for week of Monday, Oct. 17?

Here’s what the Mum City’s best are looking at:

 

Boys Soccer: All games are at 3:45 p.m. unless stated otherwise

*Bristol Central – At the beginning of the week, it’s a road date at Middletown (Monday, Oct. 17) while the squad will finish up at Northwest Catholic (Friday, Oct. 22).

*Bristol Eastern – The game of the week takes place on Monday, Oct. 17 when New Britain comes to the soccer field on King Street in a CCC South Blue Division tilt.

*St. Paul Catholic High School – Two games make up the Falcons schedule this coming week and the featured match is a Friday, Oct. 21 encounter against Wilby of Waterbury from Bristol at 6 p.m.

 

Girls Soccer – Again, that 3:45 p.m. start time applies…

*Bristol Central – While their counterparts are playing away from home, the Rams are in Bristol against both Middletown (Monday, Oct. 17) and Conard (Friday, Oct. 22) this week.

*Bristol Eastern – The Lancers and coach Redeye have a huge Friday afternoon battle against Simsbury (Oct. 21) on King Street.

*St. Paul Catholic High School – A Saturday showdown is on the docket which means St. Paul Catholic is in battle against Ansonia (Oct. 22, 10 a.m.) in a Naugatuck Valley League showdown from Bristol.

 

Volleyball

*Bristol Central – Three matches are on the schedule which includes a home date versus East Hartford on Monday, Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m.

*Bristol Eastern – Wow, everything is at home – starting at 6 p.m. from the Thomas M. Monahan Gymnasium but this week’s schedule is power packed. We’re talking RHAM (Monday, Oct. 17), Farmington (Wednesday, Oct. 19) and Platt (Friday, Oct. 21). What a fun week!

*St. Paul Catholic High School – The Falcons are home for a showdown with Seymour, as tough as they come, on Friday, Oct. 21 from the Maltby Street Gymnasium in Bristol.

 

Swimming – Most meets start at 4 p.m.…

*Bristol Central – The Rams have one meet and it’s on the road. Central travels to Windsor High School on Tuesday, Oct. 18 in a CCC attraction against the Warriors.

*Bristol Eastern – Two meets are left on the schedule before the annual clash against Bristol Central. It starts on Monday (Oct. 17) at Middletown and finishes up on Friday against Newington (Oct. 21 at 5:30 p.m.).

*St. Paul Catholic High School – The Falcons are on the road, again, for two meets this coming week. St. Paul Catholic battles Watertown on Tuesday, Oct. 18 while on Friday, it’s a road contest at Seymour High School.

 

Boys & Girls Cross Country – A few big meets are up for the locals after the city series battle from Page Park on Thursday, Oct. 13.

*Bristol Central/Bristol Eastern – Wickham Park in Manchester is the place as the CCC championships are decided at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

*St. Paul Catholic High School – On the flip side, the Falcons take on all the squads from the NVL in the championship meet from Veteran’s Park in Watertown on Wednesday, Oct. 19.sports
