United Way needs help for its Joy of Sharing program

The United Way of West Central Connecticut is asking for help this holiday. The organization is looking for donations of non-perishable food items and gifts.

These contributions will help provide numerous local families with a holiday meal and gifts for children to open at Christmas.

United Way’s Annual Joy of Sharing Program has been providing food, toys, and gifts to needy children, teens, and families in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, and Plymouth/Terryville for over 16 years. Last year alone, over 2,200 toys and gifts were donated, along with hundreds of food items.

There are two different ways that you can “LIVE UNITED” this holiday season:

Thanksgiving Food Drive – You can collect and donate food products that are the most needed during Thanksgiving (this list will be provided. Food can be dropped off at the United Way office on either Nov. 9 (1 to 4 p.m.) or Nov. 10 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m).

Holiday Toy and Gift Drive – You can collect and donate toys and gifts for children between the ages of 3 and 14. Donations can be dropped off at the United Way office on either Dec. 5 or 6 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day).

If you or your company are willing to participate in the following initiatives, call Kimberly Carmelich at United Way (860) 582-9559 X407 to sign up.
