Kenneth E. Burlock, 89, longtime resident of Bristol, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Meadowbrook of Granby. For 66 years, he was the husband of the late Elfriede (Russ) Burlock.
Kenneth was born in Mars Hill, ME on February 26, 1927 a son of the late Fraser and Retha (Baxter) Burlock and was a proud U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II. Ken moved to Bristol in 1948, the year he wed his beloved wife Elfriede “Evie”. They shared 66 wonderful years of marriage and were truly in love until her death in February 2015.
Ken retired from his job at New Departure with over 33 years of service. He and Evie enjoyed travelling back to her home country of Austria to visit family and enjoyed their many nieces and nephews and their families here in the U.S.
Ken leaves his brother, Norman Burlock of Torrington; nieces and nephews, Vonnie Cianciulli (Nicholas) of Granby, Thomas LeBlond (Ann) of New Britain, David LeBlond (Michelle) of Windsor, Leatha Warenda (James) of Litchfield, NH, Mary Margaret Teti (James) of Torrington, Lois Caldwell of Mars Hill, ME, Deanna Boland (Barry) of Cypress, TX, Lynette Heide of Roseville, MI, Heide Boyd-Blatt of Cedar Springs, MI, Donna Brown of Winchendon, MA and Jeffrey Whisher (Amy) of Canton, NY, Edith and Marion Furring of Vienna, Austria and several great nieces and great nephews. Ken was predeceased by his sisters Mary LeBlond of Torrington, Winnifred Boyd of Mio, MI and Vera Lynch of Mars Hill, ME; two nephews, Richard LeBlond of Simsbury, Kevin Boyd of Lake Orion, MI and one niece, Charlotte Burke of Waterbury.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville/Bristol. Committal services and interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol where Military Honors will be accorded. Calling hours will be held Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
