Residents can get discounted solar equipment; educational workshop Nov. 2

The City of Bristol has been selected to participate in a residential solar program.  Solarize Bristol is part of Solarize Connecticut — the residential solar program sparked by Connecticut’s Green Bank through a partnership with the non-profit organization, SmartPower.

Solarize Bristol is a coordinated effort across the community, supported by the City of Bristol. Through a competitive selection process, the city has selected All Green It Solar as their solar installer. All Green It Solar will provide all the solar installations in Bristol in exchange for special discount pricing.

Solarize Bristol also offers residents access to financing options that make going solar affordable with no upfront costs. SmartPower has partnered with Dividend Solar, a national solar financing company, to help qualified residents. Other financing resources are available through Bristol’s solar installer.

The Solarize Bristol program will host an educational workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bristol Library, 5 High Street, Bristol. Residents can learn about the program, be introduced to their solar installer, hear about financing options, and have a chance to learn if their house is good for solar.

“The City of Bristol is excited to partner with Solarize Connecticut to bring affordable solar power to the residents in the community,” said Mayor Kenneth Cockayne in a press release from the company. “With so many different ways to go solar today, we endorse Solarize Bristol as a stream-lined, vetted, simple way to help residents explore generating their own power with a local installer. We encourage residents to consider solar for their homes to increase generation of clean energy and decrease dependence on fossil fuels. The City of Bristol urges residents to attend one of the upcoming informational sessions to learn how to participate in this program.”

Residents must sign a contract by Feb. 9, 2017.

Homeowners who want to get started finding out if their home is good for solar can go directly to Solarizect.com/Bristol to “Get Started.” Residents who live in surrounding communities can also participate in Solarize by going to SolarizeCT.com.
