Obituaries: Lucienne Poitras

Lucienne (Rioux) Poitras, 91, of Bristol, widow of Carmel O. Poitras, passed away on Tuesday, (November 29, 2016) at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, Plantsville. Lucienne was born April 14, 1925 in Drummond, New Brunswick, Canada and was a daughter of the late George and Anna (Beaulieu) Rioux. She moved to Bristol in 1958 from Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada and graduated from the Bristol Hospital School of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1970. Lucienne worked at Bristol Hospital, did private duty nursing for several families and agencies, and worked for the Avon VNA Health Care for ten years where she was honored for her years of service in 1994. She was a parishioner of St. Ann Church, Bristol, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of the Ladies of St. Ann Society.  Lucienne is survived by her six children, their spouses and their families: Emilie and Ronald Duhaime of Bristol, Christopher and Susan Duhaime, and children, Joel, Nathan, and Rachel, Craig and Lisa Duhaime, and children, Ava and Erin; Bernard and Barbara Poitras of Silverton, OR, and children, Tami and Tim Gillette and children, Amy and Ryan; Kristine Chapman, Kathryn Stadeli MD, and Elisa, and Tessa Stadeli; Pierre and MaryJo Poitras of East Boothbay, ME, and daughter, Corrine; Gisele and Glenn Wilson of Old Lyme, and sons, Jason and Natalie Wilson and children, Ryder and Beckett, and Scott Wilson; Denise and Michael Raymond of Amherst, NH, and  children, Mollie and  Grant; Ann Harris of Lake Worth, FL and her children, Lindsey and Dylan; a brother and sister-in-law: Bertrand and Sylvette Rioux of Port St. Lucie, FL; a sister: Georgianna Cammarata of Palm Bay, FL; and she was lovingly known by her many nieces and nephews as “Tante Toutoute”. In addition to her husband and parents, Lucienne was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters. Lucienne’s family would like to express our thanks and deepest gratitude to the entire staff of ARC for their loving care of our Mom.  Funeral services will be held on Monday (December 5, 2016) at 10 AM from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Ann Church, 215 West St., Bristol, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M.
