Chester T. Drzewiecki, 95, of Terryville, husband of the late Genevieve (Vodarski) Drzewiecki passed away Friday January 6, 2017 at home.
Chester was born June 10, 1921 in Terryville, CT, son of the late Theodore & Stella (Boniecki) Drzewiecki and was a lifelong resident of Terryville. He went to Terryville Schools, E.C. Goodwin Trade School, New Britain and the Bristol Tech School. He was a four-year Marine veteran of WWII, having served 2½ years in the Asiatic Theater including Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Emirau, Guam and Iwo Jima. He received the Bronze Star Medal and two citations for bravery. He was a marine corporal and commander of his tank of the 3rd (Alligator) Amphibian T. Battalion Co”B” 3rd Marine Division. He went with the Fifth Division on Iwo Jima and Fourth Marines on Emirau. Prior to his retirement, he was a carpenter, working for E. G. Carlson Builders for many years and for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in the Engineering Dept. for 18 years as a carpenter. He was a parishioner of St. Casimir Church, Terryville. Chet was a lifelong member of D.A.V., Chapter 12, member of the Iwo Jima survivors Assoc. of Conn and the Terryville-Plymouth Senior Citizens.
He is survived by two daughters, Christine D. Arnold of Farmington, Patricia D. Amodeo of Wisconsin, two grandsons, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two sisters Irene D. Parylovich and Genevieve D. (Ozga) Palardy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM Saturday January 14, 2017 at St. Casimir, Church, Terryville. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
