Bristol Eastern downs Hall in girls hoops

WEST HARTFORD – The Bristol Eastern girls basketball team showed Hall what defensive intensity was all about on Tuesday, December 11.
Scoring 24 of the first 28 points in the game, the Lancers led from wire to wire to pick up a 53-36 CCC interdivisional victory from West Hartford.
Eastern (2-1) suffocated the Warriors (0-3) from the start – forcing Hall into missing its first ten shots of the contest – and never let up until the final buzzer sounded.
“I was very pleased in how well we played defensively,” said Eastern coach Tony Floyd. “I thought coming out of the blocks, they played great defense.”
Eastern’s Karissa Smith picked up the hungry man’s dinner special and got a little of everything on her plate.
She ended the game with 24 points, 15 rebounds, five steals and five blocked shots in, perhaps, her best performance in a Lancer uniform.
Daijia Brooks added 18 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and four steals while Jamella Shoultz picked up 10 rebounds.
Amanda Zdun dished out seven assists while Cassie Aiken collected six points and four rebounds to lead Eastern.
