The Bristol Chamber of Commerce’s 2015 Annual Beautification Awards Breakfast will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Chippanee Golf Club from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Recognition will be given to those who have made strides to beautify their property through landscaping, maintenance, or physical improvements over the past year.
The owner of the Bristol Blues, Elliot Scheiner is going to be the featured speaker.
Scheiner is an eight-time Grammy Award winning music producer, having most recently been given the Best Surround Sound Album award for Beyoncé at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards earlier this year. Elliot began as a musician playing percussion in various bands including Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band. He went on to produce and engineer artists such as Foo Fighters, Beck, Nine Inch Nails, Faith Hill, Steely Dan, Van Morrison, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Sting, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, James Brown, Smokey Robinson, Toto, B.B. King, Aerosmith, Jackson Browne, Dan Fogelberg, and many others. On the film side, Scheiner has worked on such films as “The Godfather,” “The Godfather II,” “Tarzan,” and “Meet the Robinsons.”
He is honored to receive 26 Grammy nominations. He now has eight Grammys, two Emmys, and three TEC Awards. He also was inducted into the TEC Hall of Fame alongside George Lucas.
Scheiner, along with real estate developer David Lindland, led the ownership group that brought the Bristol Blues to Muzzy Field last November.
The winners for this year’s awards include Bristol Hospital’s Cancer Center Garden (41 Brewster Rd.) for Best Large Business; City True Value Hardware (Route 6) for Best Small Business; St. Ann Church (West Street) for Best Non-Profit; Revolutionary War Monument (Memorial Boulevard) for Best Municipal (Small); Bristol Water Department (Riverside Avenue) for Best Municipal (Large); Jeffrey and Karen Doyon (127 Hart St.) for first place, and Ann Hagan (67 Berkshire Dr.) for second place as the Best Single Family Residence; and 171 Riverview Apartments (Laurel Street) for Best Multi-Family Residence.
Special awards will also acknowledge Glen Ogonoski (54 Cold Spring Rd/) for Best in Show; Muzzy Field for the Chamber Choice Award; The Bristol Garden Club for the Mayor’s Choice Award; and The Parent and Child Center at Bristol Hospital (22 Main St.) for Best Vegetable Garden.
Darvin and Paula Michaud (144 Curtiss St.) and Allan Czellecz (42 Norwood Rd.) received honorable mentions for Single Family Residence.
Members of the Men’s Bristol Garden Club decided upon the winners for this year’s awards.
Also at the meeting, the Bristol Chamber of Commerce will unveil its brand new, redesigned logo at the event.
