Police arrest convicted felons on drug charges near Davis Drive

Bristol police arrested two convicted felons on drug charges last night in the Davis Drive area.

According to a press release from the Bristol Police Department, 32-year-old Matthew Aylward of Bristol and 43-year-old Roderick Mack of Terryville were stopped in their vehicle as they left the Davis Drive area to pull into the parking lot of Walgreens on Farmington Avenue. Further investigation lead to the discovery of illegal drugs, the release said.

Aylward, the driver of the vehicle, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a prohibited place (Davis Drive is part of the Bristol Housing Authority), illegal distribution/sale of narcotics and illegal possession of narcotics, the release said. Mack, the passenger of the motor vehicle, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of narcotics, tampering with evidence and interfering with an officer, the release said.

Aylward was released from custody when he posted a $25,000 bond, and is due at Bristol Superior Court on Aug. 22. Mack was held on a $10,000 bond pending an arraignment at Bristol Superior Court this morning.
