Obituary: Louis E. Cercone, 76

Louis E. Cercone, 76, of Bristol, husband of Theresa (Fiorillo) Cercone, passed away peacefully at his home on September 22, 2019. Lou was born on March 25, 1943 and was the son of the late Louis A. and Anne (D’Aprile) Cercone. Besides his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his three children, daughter, Karee-Lou Koliss and her husband John of Paxton, MA, son, Jaeson Cercone and his wife Dawn of Bristol, CT, and a daughter Shannon Cercone of Bloomfield, CT. His four grandchildren, Jacob and Jordan Koliss, Andrew and Alexis Cercone. A sister Dolores Allocca and husband Anthony of Berlin, CT. A special niece Tricia Ranaldi of Bristol, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Bristol, he attended St. Anthony grammar and high school. He was a graduate of Boston College. With his finance degree he began a 45 year career at General Electric in 1965. In 1973, he moved his family to Puerto Rico where Lou and Tree spent the next 5 years exposing their children to the island culture. In 1978 he moved his family back to Bristol where they resided. In the future years, he moved back and forth from Connecticut to Puerto Rico, being wherever he could help. He ended his career at GE after several successful years as a Multi Plant Manager responsible for factories in the USA, Puerto Rico and Mexico. After retirement, he continued to use his expertise consulting for Hoppe Technologies in Chicopee, MA as well as Omar Coffee Company in Newington, CT with his daughter Shannon. Throughout the years, Lou received multiple awards and recognitions. He was a modest man who never shared his accomplishments, even to his family.  Lou was clearly the patriarch of his family. Along with Tree, he was a proud father and grandfather. One of his favorite activities was spending time with his family, reminiscing about the good times, and always saying “memories” or “doesn’t get any better than this”. He was always available for words of wisdom or just a strong shoulder to lean on. He was a mentor to many, and will be surely missed.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday (September 27, 2019) at 10 A.M. at St. Anthony Church 111 School St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol on Thursday between 4 and 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Connecticut Children’s/Polio, 282 Washington St., Hartford, CT 06106.  Please visit Lou’s memorial web-site at
