Duksa is proficient with a rifle



Claudia Duksa, who has been proficient with a rifle for just about all her life, is a member of the Texas Christian University’s rifle team and the shooting standout had a very strong year for the Horned Frogs program in 2011-12.
The Bristol Central graduate was selected as a Mountain-West Scholar-Athlete and the freshman was one of 55 students to earn the prestigious honor at TCU.
Over the second week of June, Duksa competed in the USA Shooting National Championships along with three of her college shooting teammates.
Duksa took 24th in the open event and placed ninth in the junior championship over that week of shooting.
And the season proved to be very good indeed for Horned Frogs.
This past year, TCU won its second national championship in three seasons and beat out runner up West Virginia 2,353 to 2,350.
TCU finished in first place in just about all its shooting showdowns and against Kentucky on January 21, Duksa had a career outing.
Against the Wildcats, Duksa set a career-high with a 586 score while she also fired a 568 in smallbore.
In air-rifle, Duksa averaged a 578 on the season while in smallbore, she averaged a 571 for the scholastic year.   
The Horned Frogs ended its regular season on a 30-match winning streak as Duksa and the squad went 11-0 on the campaign.
She’s been shooting for a while now and Duksa has been active in shooting for several years and racked up a number of different awards and honors.
She’s been a member of Connecticut All-State rifle team over the past eight years and has competed on the Women’s Randle Team in 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010 at the National Rifle Championships at Camp Perry, Ohio.
Duksa is also a two time sub-Junior National Match champ in both 2005 and 2006.
