Author of books on serial killers to speak at library Oct. 13

Plainville Councilman Patrick M. Kilby the Friends of the Plainville Public Library will host a discussion and book signing event featuring New York Times bestselling author of 30 books, investigative journalist, creator/producer, former host of “Dark Minds,” M. William Phelps, for a discussion and book signing event titled “Inside the Mind of the Serial Killer: How He Thinks, Why He Kills.” on Tuesday Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Plainville Public Library, 56 East Main St., Plainville.

Phelps will discuss the latest case in New Britain—alleged serial killer William Howell and how Howell fits into the spectrum of the American serial murderer.

“I’ve interviewed serial killers for 10 years, written books about them, and speak to a very famous, prolific serial killer every week, gathering his insights into cold case murders all over. What he reveals is some of the most shocking, alarming information you’ll ever hear. It’ll make you shudder. Yet the information is an essential tool in the fight against these monsters,” stated Phelps, according to a press release from the Plainville Public Library.

Phelps grew up in East Hartford, moved to Vernon, at age 12, where he lived for 25 years. He now lives in a reclusive Connecticut farming community north of Hartford.

“Mr. Phelps has a unique well versed background. His expertise in learning about these horrific people and using his knowledge with helping law enforcement solve cold cases is excellent. He is also trying to assist by learning more from these killers to solve crimes faster. I look forward to an interesting discussion and welcome everyone in the community to join us for this free event.” Said Kilby in the press release.
