Thalberg 5K, 5-mile race on Sept. 5

Thalberg Elementary School is holding a Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) 5K Family Walk and Run on Saturday, Sept. 5, rain or shine.

The Thalberg Elementary School PTO is looking to replace their current playground to help promote increased physical activity, reduce risk of obesity, stimulate organized play, help to drive socialization, and foster positive, mental, and emotional health. 100 percent of the net proceeds from the event will go towards a new playground at the school.

The Thalberg Elementary School PTO said that they believe the new playground will further help to support those students with disabilities through incorporation of different activities to drive scalability for the students today, as well as those in the future. The playground will further act as an outdoor learning classroom and cultural center.

The event details and schedule for Saturday’s event are as follows: from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. are arrivals and registration; from 7:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. are sponsor booths and the availability of snacks; 7:50 a.m. marks the opening ceremony and National Anthem with 8 a.m. as the start of the 5-Mile Run.
